I should have said UP or Down in the listening chair. Toward and away from the speakers will also do it, unless you're sitting midway between tweeter and mid of course, but not to the extent of up/down will.I just did an experiment with some fishing ...

waveguides as far as i can tell are designed to equalize the power response.
for example if we are talking about a typical 2-way speaker with a 7" midbass and 1" tweeter then there will be a discontinuity in the power response around the crossover...
I tend to think that we are not copying Romy, but more that he has generated a school of thought on audio and yes horns speakers also.I too have a system following some of the Macondo Axioms, but have used all diferent drivers. As ...

Actually the S2 above 8Khz, or what ‘nl’ calls the “breakup range”, is something that I absolutely certainly would like do NOT loose. I very much like what S2 at it’s 10-12Hz. It might be a bit brutal in some cases; I reported it at the beginning...

de Charlus,I don't think that you are taking the posts the way that they were meant.Your initial post started with a collection of what you consider to be the finest drivers for specific tasks. That is just fine and you may well be correct. The real j...
I stepped away from the idea of horn tweeters. A horn is equalization devise that boost lower knee. If people need to spread a tweeter in MF then it is OK but in my case my tweeter sits at 12.5K and I do not need any gain a...
Thats the kind of stuff I was hoping for. I appreciate the help with this, there seems to be a scarcity of horn related discussion on the web and its proving hard to learn the ropes. One other unrelated question that could save me a l...
How was the lower midrange affected by the tweeter removal?
Now the S2 is crossed at 700Hz with first order where the upper bass begin to dive. Since I use now a new line-level (yes my buffer project is over quite suc...

Sure, I heard, they always sound quite awful and they are an illustration of a wishful but wrong thinking. First of all their tweeter are curved (!!!) into…. something that could be only theoretically called a horn. What was in the mind of a des...

I left the SA8535 burning for entire day and nigh, driving it with HF “torture” signals. Interesting that the driver become much more civilized with those “alien sounds” completely evaporated. Honestly it become to sound much better… but at the...

Antonio,
The Amati's tweeter and the rest of the similar tweeters are totally out of game form the prospective of my post above. The Amati's tweeters kick in at 2.500 with first order (heavily compensated), it means that those tweeters run the imple...

Referring to my very recent acceptance of the 6E6P as a tetrode to drive the tweeter:
http://www.GoodSoundClub.com/TreeItem.aspx?PostID=5329
I decided to today to stick my beloved 7721/D3A in place of the 6E6P – thanks God they have the same pins l...
I finally received the GOTO SG38WNS 15" woofer and GOTO SG188S tweeter this week. My next step is to build a dual driver bass cabinet to cover 70Hz down.
Ming, I know nothing about the Goto woofer. Would you care to sha...

scooter, that was a whole point – to see if the fundamental dilemma of the those designs was addressed. Frankly I was prepared to see some kind of interpretation of unity horn, not just blunt lock of any efforts in this direction. As is, the Vittora...

Hello Dan,Love how you pass that cable through the port, I used to do that too...long time ago.Why are you crossing your 250hz horn all the way up to 1 khz?The 2445 should be able to go much lower. Have you measured the response you are getting from...

Yes, there are a lot of paths.I can see that many DIYers are very much stick on crossovers, changing capacitors, choosing slopes in digital filters - FIR or not FiR and so on.I know very experienced people who now say that with digital crossover he d...

I have had the same experience. I have experimented extensively with tightening and loosening the screws that mount the speakers to the baffle. I have done this with the plain wood and also by placing a gasket in between and tightening it down, simil...

This type of the “time alignment” has as much to do with time alignment as if they whistle into the horn and observe the re-entering echo. What they do is perfuming the ritual dance in front to the loudspeaker that called “trade show ballet”. The Sit...
audiofilofine, you need to examine your room and your entire domestic environment in order to see where and how you might make your pair of bass horns. Also, if they will be 20Hz horn then are you planning to use next chela...
I saw and hear thise horns on audio show in Waraw this month(I went 200km to this show only to hear this thing). It is La-horn 200hz, smaler horn is La-horn 1000hz. Drivers is BMS. Bass is TL. Orginal name of this system is ROC...

The first and the bigger thing that I like about them is that Anima is trying to use the vertical-horizontal configuration where the bell of the vertical horn serves as frame for horizontal channels. I love this idea and had a number of my own th...
I dont think a standart klipschorn would satisfy the cat. I had one, then I heavily modified it and in the end I built my full scale horn system. I still keep that modded khorn system as a second system. If I may suggest, if you u...

In this case something like 5khz to 15khz -- only for the tweeter and only for DELAY. However, if the cellular midrange horns have smooth coverage above 5khz, all the better. But I have no experience with them - maybe they sound good to 8khz....Of co...

Well, I think that you should first read about Romys Macondo speakers. There are several threads with his thoughts that should help you get away from the DIY approach that did not give you the results that you expected. You have experienced first han...

I noted that cellos “got something” at the bottom after they were Water Dropped. I did not even intended to write about it as it is an ordinary, anticipated and not particularly "exuberant" change. Improving of LF always leads to improving of HF perc...

Romy:Going back, you said:"Vitavox S2 does OK up to 12.5K ("strong, clean and in character") on it’s center but I never use this driver pointed directly to me but rather at good 20 degree off. (I hardly can tolerate any compression driver point direc...
I now run my 'tweeter' amp 1st order high pass at 2200hz (driving BMS 4540nd in 1500hz leCleach horn) so my impressions might have some bearing on Romy's new amps. I was playing around with operating points and components in my sin...

At recent Nord-West trade show Jeffrey Jackson, the guy who runs Experience Music site, demonstrated his new horn Installation. I know little about it and would like to make some comments about what is feel is obvious from the image.
It is 5-ways ...
Choosing the Acapella tweeter as a starting point is like wanting to build a Formula 1 race car by basing it on a set of Hot Wheels. Oh I know it's a popular choice--but only by the frighten and fraudlent audio human waste.
